The Program
Right now, Nepal is seeing immense protests against the King of Nepal. They were begun by political parties calling for Democracy but they have mushroomed into something beyond their control. They have entered the 18th day, and hundreds of thousands of people country wide have
marched in the streets. No organizer could have predicted this- not the the political parties and not the Maoists. And they cannot control it.

Nepal has never seen anything like this in her history.

We recognize that the force that unites them is the same force that unites us here to protest. It is deeper than politics. It is the fundamental need for justice, peace and freedom from violence that we all share. In the heated political environment of the moment, this voice of our people is being hijacked and killed. The movement should not be allowed to be hijacked by any extremists either of the right or the left.

Today we are protesting respectfully and nonviolently to magnify this basic demand of us, the Nepali people. We are tired of constant violence and fear. We are tired of years of injustice. We are here as a matter of duty. Today we speak out as a million Nepali brothers, sisters, children, mothers and fathers march non-violently at home.

We are here to show solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Nepal in their call for peace and justice through non-violent protest. And we demand and end to the violence.
